'Echoes of Violence' has been the title of a series debates in De Balie, a centre for politics and culture, in the autumn of 1996 in Amsterdam.
Speakers from several parts of the world discussed the transition from totalitarian regimes to democracy and how to achieve reconciliation without sacrificing truth and justice. A special interest was taken into South Africa, Rwanda and the former Yugoslavia.

'Echoes of Violence' was a collaboration of De Balie, the Humanistic Broadcasting Association and the former Institute for Southern Africa.
